Quick Trip

This has been a whirlwind week, and it's only Wednesday! :-) Sunday morning, I braved the snow and headed to the airport in Raleigh for a fast trip home. As usual, I got the seat by the person wanting to share her life story. I wasn't particularly in the mood to sit and listen, but trapped in a steel can 30,000 feet above the ground, what are you gonna do?!? :) We did finally arrive at DFW where my sweet sister was waiting for us to go to Tyler.

Our Mema was in one of the Tyler hospitals with newly diagnosed cancer and was scheduled for a major surgery first thing Monday morning to try and remove as much of the cancer as possible. We found out Monday afternoon that it was too widespread for removal, so the surgeon closed her up and referred her to the oncologist. Obviously, this was VERY discouraging news for the family. My dad, uncles, Papa Joe, and Mema were scheduled to meet with this doctor this evening at 6PM (central time) to get a plan together, so I'm waiting to hear the latest.

I arrived back in North Carolina this afternoon to several loads of laundry and empty kitchen cabinets. So, amidst the grocery shopping and loads of laundry, I just sat down to have some time to listen to God. I've been studying Colossians with the Frontline services at my church in Virginia via the internet. But before I started reading today, I prayed for God to show me to what He wanted me to read. I was needing some comfort and peace after the emotionally exhausting past week and a half. Here's where He led me:

There is a time for everything, and a season for every
activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
--Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Then, I read:
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come and see the works of the Lord, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.' The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
--Psalm 46
Talk about encouraging!! Please pray for my family when
we cross your mind. Thank you!! :-)
